Program Description

The Beavers Program was one of the most popular programs in 2015. This program is designed for young paddlers with previous experience either in the Muskrats or Beavers. This program will be focused on the river and moving water conditions with some flat water time as well. Students in this program need to be comfortable with the wet exit, swimming and the five essential pieces of equipment.  These participants will focus on mastering the eddy turn and peel out, while constantly practicing the skills learned in the Muskrat program.  There will be an emphasis on fun and safety, as well as the progression from flat water to moving water. Depending on enrollment, the Beavers might be split into two separate groups. One group will spend time on Flat Creek, various sections of the snake from South Park to East Table, and the Hoback at low water.. A second group will be for Beavers who have been in the program for at least two years. This group will focus on reading water and more dynamic kayak maneuvers and skills, and spend more time on the Hoback at high water, various sections of the Snake, and the Canyon at medium to lower water levels.

Beaver Spring Session- New for 2017

There will be a new spring session for Beavers this year. It is open only to highly experienced beavers (must have a consistent roll in Class I, at least 2-3 seasons experience), and requires additional equipment due to the cold nature of the water. If your child is interested, please reach out to Rainer to see if it is a good fit.
